Kwara EmONC Training

ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME

The Kwara Office joined LSTM from 23rd to 25th March 2021 to carry out a Nurses-only training course titled “Life-Saving Skills – Essential Obstetric Care & Newborn Care Course for Kwara State” at Captain Cook Conference Hall. Participants were drawn from Kwara State Ministry of Health, School of Nursing Ilorin, General Hospital Ilorin, School of Midwifery, Alawamu Basic Health Centre, Yusjib Medical Centre Ilorin, Lafiagi Clinic and Maternity, Oke-Ola PHC Oro and Nursing and Midwifery Council Abuja. All the LSTM equipment, training manuals and models safely stored at the WBFA Kwara Office were used for the training and then donated to the Kwara School of Nursing and Midwifery in order to upgrade it to a National Center of Excellence in collaboration with the National Council. 

EmONC CLOSEOUT

The Kwara Office and Abuja Team in collaboration with LSTM and J&J successfully closed out the 3rd phase of EmONC on 31st May 2021 with a dissemination meeting program.
Attendees of the dissemination meeting which included beneficiaries of the EmONC training across different cadres of healthcare workers/personnel were given:
· a report
· a calendar
· a branded USB stick already loaded with reports and documentaries.
A simulation/training skills laboratory equipped with diverse sets of training apparatus/models was launched at the Kwara State School of midwifery, Taiwo Ilorin.

EmONC PLAQUES INSTALLATION​

In preparation for the EmONC closeout, branded EmONC Plaques were made and these were distributed to all the 47 EmONC beneficiary facilities across the 16 LGAs of Kwara State. The installation commenced on Friday 23rd April and ended on Sunday 2nd May 2021. The team were divided into two to meet up with the installation.

EmONC Documentary video:​

The Kwara Office provided all the necessary assistance to the Asala Team who came to shoot the documentary video for the EmONC program. We also gave Team Asala videos and pictures from our archives as required.
