It is wonderful to be celebrating Eid al-Adha in Kwara State, in the comforting and warm embrace of a lovely welcome from my dear sisters, the Alaafia Kwara Women Leaders, as we honour tradition and grow the spirit of community.
Gatherings in Kwara State are more than just cultural commemorations, they are a time to reconnect with one’s faith, roots, and rejuvenate our unity. The prayers, the sacrifice and giving of livestock, provision of new coverings of clothing for the joyous festivities with family and friends replenish the values that hold us together, based in Alaafia, a state of peace, wellbeing and harmony.
As we observe Eid al-Adha, I am renewed by the commitment to caring and the nurture and nourishment of community development to transform and thrive, while I appreciate our blessing and strive to continue to embody the virtues of sacrifice and generosity, especially through The Wellbeing Foundation and our Alaafia Kwara Initiative.
